A few of you have asked, "What is the Donat-o-Meter thing?"
About a week ago, we added the donation meter. Basically what it does is show you a rough idea of our expenses, and what we've received in donations from you. It interacts directly with PayPal, so as soon as you've made a donation, it will show up. It's completely up to you to if your name will show up. All donations so far have been anonymous.
I've missed putting up notes of some of your donations, and I apologize for that. I don't get into the PayPal account every day to check on things, and some of those notice emails get filtered away with the spam and phishers.
Our goal for donations is $5,000 per month. That's a low figure towards what we need to keep the site operational and growing. By no means is this money going towards new company Mercedes', yachts, or vacations. It is used strictly for operational expenses including salaries. I, as owner and editor, am not taking anything of a salary at this time. Honestly, Intellpuke is chained to his desk, so he doesn't get to see the light of day and is worth more than the $20/month that he's receiving now. He does own a car, but a 1980 Chevette isn't what a star news personality should be driving. The exhaust fell off 6 months ago, and I'm pretty sure duct tape is still not a good replacement for tire tread.
Mine is a bit better, but Intellpuke has the advantage of his being paid off, and mine still has something on the order of 3 to 10 years left on the payments. As of recently, it needs a transmission repair (synchros), brake pads and rotors, which brings funds for FIP a bit tighter. I know a few of you may say "well stop driving like a maniac." Well, I only drive hard on the race track, which this car hasn't seen in over two years. Places I've been in the last few years are not conducive to driving fast, but are much harder on the transmission and brakes.
