At the end of a long line of white crosses, each bearing a name of a soldier killed in Iraq, is a small, open tent set up like a shrine.
Inside the tent is a photograph of Casey Sheehan, surrounded by flowers and candles. The 24-year-old died in Iraq last year, and two weeks ago his mother, Cindy, set up "Camp Casey" and caught the nation's imagination.
To begin with just a few people drifted along to join her - just a couple of miles down the road from where President George W. Bush is spending his summer vacation.
Suddenly people started hearing about the woman who wants to meet the president face-to-face and to ask him why her son died, and that's when the television trucks started to arrive.
Hundreds have now come here, some Iraq veterans or families of those killed in the fighting, others just wanting to support her point of view. Cindy Sheehan is now probably the most talked about woman in America, leading the news bulletins over the last couple of days and reinvigorating the anti-war movement in the States which has been struggling to find a voice.

What gives the LEFT the right to use Christian Symbols to help make their debate points? (the crosses representing our war dead) First of all, weren't there non-christian soldiers killed? I thought that you leftist PC types were so sensitive about being inclusive!
The President is NOT on vacation......He is HOME! Who goes home to be on vacation. That pig Clinton used to take his month off on Martha's Vinyard......Now THAT was a vacation! The Bush Ranch in Crawford is set up like the White House, and in our modern era of high tech communication he's probably better off at his ranch in Crawford than in Washington DC.
Those "few people" who "drifted off" to join Cindy in her protest in Crawford were her handlers (she has secured the use of a public relations firm) and radical hangers on, such as the rabid leftists of MoveOn.org, who have repeatedly compared the President to Hitler.
Cindy's son Casey didn't DIE in Iraq last year, he was KILLED IN ACTION. People who snort cocaine and get heart attacks die. Our brave soldiers SACRIFICE their lives for our nation. Besides......Ms. Sheehan ought to be ashamed of herself for using the memory and sacrifice of her son as a PROP to advance her leftist ideology ("Camp Casey")!
Television trucks didn't have to "arrive"......The stupid, sycophantic, lazy media was there in Crawford anyhow. Something which they deeply resent (they loved it when Clinton was President and they were able to set up their live shots on the swank Island of Martha's Vinyard with the other beautiful people). They simply jumped at the chance to cover the Sheehan protest......they hate the President, and will do anything that they can to get even with him for dragging them to Crawford.
Cindy Sheehan IS "the most talked about woman in America", but most of those who are talking are suggesting that she's lost her mind in the anger, denial and grief associated with the loss of her son.
You lefties always think you are being accused of being "unpatriotic" and the FACT is that if you do a GOOGLE NEWS SEARCH you will find only leftist blog references to UNPATRIOTIC. Conservatives simply support the President, the Troops and our war effort, and you on the left draw the conclusion that you're being labeled as "unpatriotic".
Cindy Sheehan's mother didn't simply "have a stroke", she was driven to it......made ill by the stress associated with having to witness her daughter lose her mind on national TV.
Keep drinking the Kool Aid!
Does one need to be a "grieving mother" in order to have the "right to protest", and does being a "grieving mother" make her protest any more credible (or incredible) than anyone else?
The President IS NOT EMBARRASSED by Cindy Sheehan or her crowd of radical leftist protesters. They are the ones who ought to be embarrassed......There is a lot of support for these anti-war protesters in the Arab world (not surprisingly)! In fact, our enemy is counting on them!
Cindy Sheehan isn't "courageous", HER SON WAS! May his soul rest in peace, despite the best (worst) efforts of his mother! |

Have you thought of a mother's feeling who has given birth to sweet little boy and fed him, taken care of all his needs, watched him grow to a young adult with fulfilment and joy only to find him dead for a war which is started by false intelligent report from this nations premier intelligence agency.
If you can understand this, you would not be writing a crap like what you have written.

Dear uncompassionate conservative -
Saying that she "drove" her mother to a stroke shows your ignorance. Are you sure you weren't talking about a heart attack? Heart attacks are stress related.
My father suffered a serious stroke and later died from it. He was recently retired & I can tell you it wasn't stress that caused the stroke.
It is evident that you have never walked into a hospital room and have the face the changed person you meet there after their having just suffered a serious physical ailment.
You must realize that people grieve in very different ways. I grieve in private. I also know that some people say some crazy things when they are in grief. I also know that some people grieve (especially when the death is traumatic - think about victims of drunk drivers) by getting active.
The night my father died by 60-year-old mother talked about remarrying. If you knew her, you knew that That would never happen!
If an inquiry into the legality of President and his administration's actions leading up to the war were conducted by Congress, people would not have to be taking it to the streets. If the President could prove under oath that his reasons for starting this Iraq war had not mislead Americans - many, many more Americans would feel like you do. But Republican leaders of Congress consistently refuse to investigate their own. (Remember when Delay tried to change the rules to protect himself while at the same time, Republicans in Florida were trying to keep felons from voting - if you think about this you would conclude that Republicans think it's okay for criminals to serve in Congress, but it's not okay for felons to vote. Go figure!)
Leading up to the war, I gave the President the benefit of the doubt - thinking his access to CIA and intelligence information provided him with evidence of an "imminent threat" posed by Saddam Hussain and Iraq.
If he can prove THAT I will again be silent. But for now, I feel betrayed and am being VERY vocal in requesting the truth.
I think that a lot of the anger of current protestors is misplaced. They should be going for the jugular - the truth about President Bush and the lead-up to the war.
I'll use an analogy to put this into perspective. Have you ever been in a situation in which the other party will not tell you the truth, or will not say anything at all? The resentment slowly builds, then festers. then oozes. We're in the festering stage right now.
The "much ado" over Cindy Sheehan is not going to go away. There is too much pent-up anger out in mid-America, and until the truth be known, it's only going to get worse.
I remember the Vietnam years and it was when (as has begun happening this summer) war deaths came in groups to communities (In case you don't remember, that's what happens when guard units are deployed together) that the anti-war protests escalated.

I not ice this brave soul didn't have the courage to put his name to this repugnant rant.
"Cindy Sheehan's mother didn't simply "have a stroke", she was driven to it......made ill by the stress associated with having to witness her daughter lose her mind on national TV.'
what an imbucile - but then, what can we expect from a Bush supporter than an inarticulate letter filled with cheap shots such as this?

You haven't......and actually cannot......counter a single salient point which I have made, and that is because it isn't possible......My points were based upon observable fact, and not upon feelings or heartfelt emotion, no matter how heart wrenching.

I wasn't considering Cindy's emotional attachment to the son she lost in battle......I do believe that ANGER is an important step in the grieving process.....I believe it follows DENIAL in the hierarchy......I believe that a person who gets STUCK in the anger stage of grieving, as Cindy Sheehan seems to have, should seek professional help......That's what I referrenced as "losing her mind". Note that her family has implored her to return home (prior to her Mom's stroke) and she refused.

Attention Ignorance (vs) Anecdote Department......Here's how a garden variety stroke can be accelerated by emotionally driven STRESS. Suppose that a person is sufferring from high blood pressure and hardening of the arteries (generally though of as a lethal combination). Then anxiety and stress become external factors due to (in this case) seeing one's daughter on national television being USED by media sensationalists and left wing moonbats. A blood clot lodges in an artery in the brain and a stroke is the tragic result......I should also hasten to point out that a garden variety heart attack (known as a Myocardial Infarction) is caused the same way as a stroke, by a blood clot blocking one of the coronary artieries, thereby severely restricting the blood flow to the heart muscle, and causing cardiac arrest in the worst case scenario. How's that for IGNORANCE?

I regret that you have chosen NOT to counter a single point that I made in my reply......You simply referenced it as a "repugnant rant". You also characterized me as a "Bush" supporter. You've only assumed that. I never mentioned where my support lay, although I can tell you that I support our President, The Constitution he has sworn to uphold, and the troops that he commands in the field and around the world. Much as it vexes me to say so, even if the President were John Kerry (who, by the way, shares the very same enthusiasm for our adventure in Iraq.....check his statements on the subject if you don't believe me) I would equally and enthusiastically support him as well.
