I think everyone needs to calm down. Michael Moore featured this story on his site, too. Moore is the master of propaganda. The information for this 'news story' was taken from one of the demonstrators, NOT a journalist or an unbiased witness. There is a video, filmed with a hand held camera. It's very interesting. I've seen it. It's blurry and hard to see some images, but I could not see any markings on these 'tanks,' nor could I see any markings on the 'soldiers' uniforms. I find this very suspicious.
The police only showed up to keep people off of the very busy street and away from heavy traffic. Number of police is three. Only heard the voice of one or two. Number of demonstrators was listed as 'hundreds' but only looked like maybe 25. Several people walking past or just watching, but do they count? Hundreds driving past, surely they do not count!
Don't you all find it odd that there are no pictures or stories on the wires or the local and national U.S. news about this incident? You think military tanks moving through Los Angeles, California would generate more press coverage. This story is very odd and it sounds like it was staged. Tanks do not just 'drive by.'

I wonder what happened to the "MEDIA"
After watching the pictures and red the whole article about the incident, I did try to catch this on TV. but unfortunately this event wasn't televised in any of the "Free American Media".
since 8:00pm on Nov. 11 until midnight this evening I didn't see anything from the American media or the Hispanic media. I just wonder how they can keep a whole state ignorant of such an outrageous attitude from the "Ignorant/Assassin/Hero soldiers that as the puppets that they are, it seems to be that instead of questioning why? they just act like the ones from the MK ULTRA Mind control Slaves program. Please try to let know to all the people you can about this alarming police state situation that is developing under the table in our country.

Did you ever find out or knew about what happened in Oakland, CA. just a few years ago?
was that a lie? Did you see that in the news?
Did you ever see the video and the foreing special troops from at least 4 different countries training here in the USA? they were taking in a staged scenario guns out of people's houses.

I am as chagrined as anyone else to see military presence on the streets of LA; however, the chances of this particular incident being a twisted coincidence are highly likely. I think reporting this story without shedding light on this aspect of it as twisted as the reporting of – dare I say – Fox News.
I wasn't there at the Tuesday night demonstration in Westwood, but I did do some follow-up investigation this morning about the two armored vehicles.
Turns out the West Los Angeles Veterans Administration was having a Veterans Day parade and celebration this morning (Wednesday). I drove over and walked in to the WLA VA to look around at 10:50am.
Lots of marching middle school ROTC "cadets" (including 11-to-14-year-old boys and girls from Mt. Vernon Middle School all in US Army uniform, some shouldering parade "rifles") and a high school band and antique cars filled with VAFW members. And two USMC Striker armored vehicles complete with 6 or 7 Marines in fatigues and body armor giving junior high ROTC kids and adults tours of the vehicles.
I talked to one Marine with one of the "Striker" vehicles. He told me they had driven the vehicles up from Camp Pendleton the night before (Tuesday) on the freeway. Getting off the 405 Freeway North taking the Wilshire East (instead of WEST to the VA) offramp, they would have passed Wilshire and Veteran where the anti-war rally was underway protesting the attack on Fallujah in Iraq.
I asked him if he was "rolling around Westwood" Tuesday night. He said, "Yeah, and we drove past that anti-war demonstration. We was lost. We're not from L.A. We didn't know where this place (WLA VA) was. We were trying to find it."
"Did you drive around the block twice?" I asked.
"Yeah, we did. We stopped to ask them (the protestors) directions, but they weren't very nice."
There was more conversation, but that was the gist of it from the Marine side concerning the armored vehicles. For what it's worth.
I've also been receiving emails from friends who were at the rally who tell me the LAPD officers said they had no idea why the Striker armored vehicles had shown up.

The drivers of the vehicles (not tanks, by the way, there's no treads on them) were simply lost in LA, as anyone who has ever been to LA can sympathize with. I live in LA, and I'm not half has worried about this as most of you. If you're going to let a handful of Marines getting lost in LA rattle your cage that much, then perhaps you are no better than others who let their judgement be impaired by fear. |

In the near future those who are in the U.S that disagree or stand in defiance of the U.S. govenment will be subject to the same things that are taking place in falluhjah, iraq and elsewhere at the hand of the American Military. This is getting way out of hand.
Those "APCs" or "Tanks" are, in fact, USMC Light Armored Vehicles, 25-mm variant. They were participating in a PARADE and supporting the US Marine Corps Reserves TOYS-FOR-TOTS program.
I know this because I am in the same unit as those in the pictures. We had another event the next night, at Dana Point High School in a football game against #2 in the Nation Mission Viejo. There was a huge Toys-for-tots event, raising many toys for underpriveledged kids. We also brought two LAVs, the same from the parade, and people seemed to LOVE them. I was in my dress blues and I have never had my hand shaken and been thanked so many times in one evening.
I don't know the specifics of what happened on the "night in question" but a fellow Marine told me briefly about it and laughed at how out of hand the reports on the internet had become. This I know;
the vehicles were not tanks,
they were not there as a response to an anti-war protest, as i understand it, the anti-war protest was there as a response to the VETERANS DAY PARADE which they were a part of,
this is not an issue of mind controled soldiers droning on about "just following orders" - this is an instance of fiction dramatized by the overactive imagination of a few people.

yeah, so i just talked to my buddy about the specifics. they were not IN a parade at this point, just going home from it. i got a real kick out of the video, btw. just how self important everyone feels. why did not a single person feel like it would be nice to go talk to the marines, get their feeling, instead of just shouting stupid chants at them. yelling at them to "stay home" or "bring the troops home" might sound nice, but they really don't get to make that choice, like it or not.

Misnamed or not - from the video you can clearly see that this USMC Light Armored Vehicle had a cannon that made it look like a tank.
If it shows up at an anti-war demonstration, people must feel like they are in Prague in 1968.
'we got lost and wanted to ask the demonstrators for directions' sounds like a joke - if that is truly what happened then life has more sarcasm than me.

This is insane! Please people lets be rational.
It was Veterans Day so military vehicles were out and about. There are numerous rational explanations when you consider it was Veterans Day. The knee jerk responses about the US being a totalatarian state or using the military to stop lawful protests are "Looney Tunes." On second thought, it would be an insult to a cartoon character to associate them with such mindless thought.
People, there are enough issues to debate, enough things that government does wrong, ehough injustices to be corrected, to worry about trumped up, over imaginative, LSD induced conspiracy theories. Lets get back to rational, enlightened discussions that serve a purpose. Not "the sky is falling" tripe. |
